EcoViva’s work is and always has been about people.
This Thanksgiving, I’d like to express my gratitude to all the people who have made this endeavor for prosperity and peace in Central America a success for 19 years and counting.
I am thankful for…
…our Central American partners. The Mangrove Association, La Coordinadora, Red Comal, and the communities they represent are tireless in their struggle to improve quality of life and protect the unique natural landscape of the Lower Lempa of El Salvador and in Honduras. Their dedication is a constant source of inspiration, and an affirmation that, through collaboration and perseverance, we can build a better world.
…our Board members. They’re a committed and plucky bunch whose insight, guidance, and organizing has allowed us to multiply our impact many times over.
…our institutional funders. In the past few months alone, we’ve received grants from Communitas Charitable Trust, Izote, Foundation Beyond Belief, Holthues Trust, the Tikva Grassroots Empowerment Fund of the Tides Foundation, the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation, and the Virginia Wellington Cabot Foundation. The financial support of institutional actors like these is not only a crucial source of funding for our programs, but also signals the effectiveness of our model working on the ground alongside those we serve.
…our technical collaborators. We’ve had the pleasure of working with all sorts of professionals, from engineers to MBAs to architects. Their skills have enriched and strengthened our work – as with students’ comprehensive valuation of the ecosystem services provided by the mangroves, or installation of a solar-powered pump to water a school garden – and have lead to longstanding partnerships with capable, service-minded groups.
…the youth of El Salvador. Despite violence and, at times, seemingly impossible odds, young people are innovating, creating businesses, and leading local development. They are boldy taking the reigns of their futures and the future of their country.
…you. Last but not least, I am thankful for you. Yes, YOU! Thank you for reading this post and keeping informed about the latest at EcoViva. Thank you for your time, your energy, your knowledge, your donations, and above all your solidarity. Your continued support is a validation of our work and the common vision we share of prosperous and peaceful world.
From all of us at EcoViva, please receive a very warm THANK YOU!
